So, you've been out of high school now for quite some time now but you are still getting those embarrassing pimples? Well, as always that usually means that your pores are still getting clogged from your oily skin and the dirt and dead skin that is getting trapped in your pores. There really is nothing you should worry about because today, there are a lot of different products that are made just for men and their oily skin and these products will cut down on the blackheads and blemishes that you are struggling with. Just because you are a man does not mean that you shouldn't take care of your skin, that couldn't be further from the truth!
The first thing you will need to do is to figure out if you actually are suffering from oily skin. For a man, if he has oily skin he is usually going to have a lot of clogged and dirty pores, acne and the skin is going to be shiny looking and there will be very little lines or wrinkles on the face. Another tell tale sign is those with oily skin will usually have blemishes popping up on their chest as well as their back.
One thing you will need to do to take care of your oily skin is to exfoliate it at least three times each week. When you exfoliate you will be removing all of the dead skin and excess oil by using a special skin cleanser that contains some abrasive ingredients. You should use this cleanser with a sponge that is abrasive or a loofah and it should be done in a circular type motion over all of the skin that is affected. Then wash off with some cool water, not hot water. Hot water just opens up the pores more.
Then you need to use a mild facial cleaner at least one time a day so that you can take care of your oily skin on a daily basis. Always use warm water with the cleanser to open up the pores just a little so that you can get rid of the dirt and oil. Then simply pat your face dry gently with a soft and clean towel. Do not rub vigorously.
Once you have done that you will need to have an astringent skin toner or an oil free moisturizer to put on your skin after you have washed the oily problem areas. Whatever you do, don't use a soap or moisturizer that has an oil base to it. This is just going to make matters worse. So make sure that your products you by are glycerin based products instead. So this means you have to read the labels on the products before you buy them!
Make sure to try and avoid overexposure to the sun or tanning beds when you are trying to control your oily skin. When you get an excessive amount of UV rays you are only going to aggravate that oily skin of yours and you are only going to promote more blemishes to appear.
You also need to look at your diet as well. If you eat an excessive amount of fatty or greasy foods you may stimulate the increase of oil in your skin and it's not going to cause the actual blemishes but it can increase the frequency and the severity of the breakouts. Also make sure to drink lots of water and eat a diet that has a lot of fiber in it. This will help your skin to maintain a normal balance to it.
Note: Following these guidelines will surely help. However, if you find that nothing is really working your best bet then is to make an appointment with a dermatologist and see if they can help you with your problem skin.
