If you are suffering from very dry and flaky skin then this means that you really need to find a way in which you can treat your skin so that it's back to a more touchable and soft state. You skin could be dry because of the season of the year, a change in your environment or it could be just a long term issue that you have to deal with constantly. No matter what the reason for your dry skin this condition can be treated and treated fairly easily.

One of the main things that your dry skin needs is a moisturizer. You need to make sure that the lotion you get has salicylic or alpha hydroxyl in it. You can make your own body scrub with stuff from home like seal salt or sugar and adding one or the other to some olive oil or honey and then scrubbing your skin with that. Just gently rub on your skin and then rinse off. The oil will penetrate your skin at the same time the dry flakes are being scrubbed off.

You should try to keep your feet moist by wearing socks when you are at home and not both shoes and socks. When you get home you should take off your shoes and your socks and then wash your feet and then put a rich cream or lotion on, Vaseline is good, to put on your feet. Then you can put on some clean socks. Before going to bed you can take your socks off and then wipe off the Vaseline.

For really dry skin the best moisturizer that you can get is one that has an oil base to it. It's the oils in that moisturizer that is going to help put a protective layer on your skin and is going to help keep your face soft. You also should use a sunscreen when you go outside in the sun and it should be an SPF of 15 or higher so that you can cut down on the suns ability to dry out the skin even further.

During the winter months it might be a good idea for you to use a humidifier because heating over the months can add just extra dryness to the air which in turn is going to dry your skin even more. You should also make sure that you drink lots of water in order for you to keep your body and skin hydrated.
